8.1. General information
The system of release serves for removal of the fulfilled gases in the atmosphere, prevents their hit even in the minimum quantity in interior of the car and reduces engine noise level. That the system of production of the fulfilled gases could work normally, it has to be in good repair. The condition of system of production of the fulfilled gases influences also the engine capacity and fuel consumption.
The system of production of the fulfilled gases consists of a final collector, a reception exhaust pipe, the central and back mufflers, catalytic converter.
Elements of system of release are connected by means of threaded connections or collars.
Notes
Always replace laying and самоконтрящиеся nuts.
After service or repair of system of production of the fulfilled gases check that its details were established freely, without tension, with a sufficient gap concerning body elements.

At installation a lambda sensor of 12 (fig. 4.2-1) it is necessary to apply high-temperature G 052 112 A3 lubricant on its carving.
The connecting element in a forward exhaust pipe should not be bent more than on 10 °, otherwise it will be damaged.
At installation of system of release the distance between forward pipes of the central muffler and a cross beam in a free state has to make 43 mm.

It is necessary to sustain strictly distance between exhaust pipes, the driveshaft, elements of a body and a beam of a back suspension bracket (fig. 4.2-2 – 4.2–10).

On front and all-wheel drive cars of a suspension bracket of a forward part of a forward exhaust pipe to elements of a body differ on a design (see fig. 4.2-5).
For simplification of unscrewing grease the nuts and bolts fixing system of release, high-temperature Liqui Moly LM-508-ASC paste.
Before repeated installation of elements of system clear places of their connection by an emery paper of the remains of sealant and a rust.
Separation of the central and back mufflers
If separation of pipes of system of release is complicated, by means of the autogenous welding machine warm a junction of pipes and separate them.
Back and central mufflers are executed in the form of the uniform block, however each of them can be replaced separately.
Fig. 4.2-11. The place of cutting of the central and back mufflers of cars with six-cylinder engines: and = 240 mm
|
For replacement only of one muffler it is necessary to remove the block of the central and back mufflers from the car and to cut them at a certain distance from the central muffler (fig. 4.2-11 and 4.2-12).
Fig. 4.2-12. The place of cutting of the central and back mufflers of cars with eight-cylinder engines: and = 240 mm; b = 200 mm

Connect new section of the muffler to old and establish a collar, having arranged it so that the bottom edge of a bolt of fastening of a collar settled down at the level of a pipe of mufflers (fig. 4.2-13).
Alignment of elements of system of production of the fulfilled gases
You carry out alignment of elements of system of production of the fulfilled gases on the cold engine.
Weaken bolts of fastening of collars.
Move system of release forward so that the suspension bracket of the back muffler was previously loaded (fig. 4.2-14).
Tighten bolts of fastening of collars the moment of 40 N · m.
